So how is this going to work? The Coquitlam docks at 8:35pm persumably if on time and the crew would just transfer over to the Oak Bay Right? Well what about Food etc. I would imagine the Cafeteria would be open which would mean that a Crew would have to be aboard the Oak Bay before The Transfer to get the ship prepared for Passengers. ie, Galley equipment, Grills, etc ready for serving food. Having worked in a restuarant kitchen myself I know you can't just turn those things on and cook it takes time.

I think they're bringing the Coquitlam over to Nanaimo tomorrow with the 6:30 am sailing, then switching crews and places in time for the 8:30 sailing from Departure Bay. I wish I could get out of school to go on these "maiden voyages" to see what they do on the first sailing after the ferries get out of midlife. Oh well I'll be free next year so I'll make sure I'm on the "maiden voyage" of the Alberni when she gets back in June 2007!

Yeah I would even do the Alberni trip too! Info from the yahoo group states that the Queen of Oak Bay is doing the 9pm sailing to Horseshoe Bay tonight and the Coquitlam is staying at Departure Bay. So the maiden voyages wont actually be tommorrow they are still having the events or whatever they are doing tommorrow on those sailings. The current conditions list the Oaky as the 9pm departure from Departure Bay tonight!

Right now there is currently is a 1 sailing wait to Horseshoe Bay for the 7pm. Looks like some people will be getting on the Oaky for the 9pm first sailing, her maiden voyage. nope wait I just looked at it again and now it says a 2 sailing wait as of 6:23pm and the 9pm is 70% full. The Esquimalt is doing a roundtrip right now so she might have to do another one tonight!

Or wait, if there still is a 1 or 2 sailing wait after the 7pm leave maybe they will have to run the Coquitlam back to Horseshoe Bay and the Oaky for the 9pm!

What a crazy night then! It's almost 8:30 now so Oakys engines should be fired right up. But holy, look at the cam of the lineup to get to the toll booth its jammed! It looks like the Esquimalt is full already and I don't know if Oaky will be able to take all of those cars. Who knows maybe they'll have to do another round trip with the Esquimalt which i doubt they'll do.

just looked again and the Coquitlam is arriving now. Oaky is still in the middle berth or whatever one that is. Maybe they will have to run the Oaky and Coquitlam at 9pm. Esquimalt has left! Ok current conditions have the Esquimalt departing Horseshoe Bay coming back at 10:15 from Horseshoe Bay. That is probably going to be dead sailing that one as there is only like 1 or more lanes for the 9pm out of HB!

Hey does anyone know if they even put Oaky back in right way around with the Nanaimo end to the dock and not the Horseshoe Bay end?

Does it usually matter what end they use?? The Cafeteria is at which end?? I remember coming back on the Cowichan once from Horseshoe Bay and the Cafeteria was at that end.
too bad these webcams dont have zoom features on them. I would like to know if they are actually using the Oaky tonight or if someone is just mixed up and dosent know what's going on.

I think it matters with the overhead walkway for some reason.

No she's doing a round trip on route 2 right now because there was sailing waits. But Oak Bay has now left about 20 minutes after 9! and taking all of the cars that were in the lineup!

She in her first official day of service now ;D 6 months ago BC Ferries started a Mid-Life Upgrade on the Queen of Oak Bay 6 months later she arrives back slighty not good on the outside but wonderful on the inside which probably makes her the best C-Class in the fleet
