I will be in Vancouver on Friday afternoon till Saturday evening so I am going to try and get down to view the Oaky again in the drydock! I am still debating whether to take the 1pm to Tsawwassen or 12:30 to Horseshoe Bay as I want to go to north van and I know the Horseshoe Bay would be quicker and only have to put up with rush hour one way. hmm!

Well I am going to be down at Stanley Park on Saturday but Friday I thought of goinng down there too when I get over. But I am staying with relatives out in Ladner so I will be heading out there in the evening then I have to pick up my mom at Tsawwassen who is coming over on a later ferry. I still havent decided yet. Horseshoe Bay would be good. Only thing is I have an appointment at 10am Friday morning which shouldent take more than ten mins so I am trying to figure out if I will make it in time to Departure Bay from Victoria and if it's busy or not. Cause it will be a waste if I dont get on the 12:30 as I have to wait till 3 whereas if I go Tsawwassen and had to wait I could get the 2. I still have to decide.

I think the Oak Bay is just white now and sitting in the drydock from what I could see from the 2nd Narrows Bridge

Right on thanx Karl. That's crazy, you can't even tell that they cut that hole on the front there. They sure took out alot of windows on the car deck though.

You're right about the car deck windows, Chris. As for the paint job progress, That's what the Oaky looked like when I drove by her on Thursday Afternoon.

I found more pics of Oakys refit that came today, I think this guy works for BCF or something but they're pretty cool. www.pbase.com/kstapleton/queen_of_oak_bay&page=2One cool thing I noticed in this pictures is that it looks like they were replaceing the metal on the railings, and unlike what they did on Cowichan and Coquitlam, extend the railings out on to those evacuations chute boxes on the outer deck.

Several comments about the Oak Bay right now. She has gotten uglier in that they removed so many car deck windows...I hate it when they do that. But with the new paint job she looks good. She sure is a deep one in the water, it takes like six layers of scaffolding to get to the lower car deck floor from the dry-dock. Nice pictures by the way Kevin.

Yeah, her windows are a mess now but oh well. It looks like they gotta clean up her hull again because it looks like the salt water has gotten to her in the last 6 months of sitting along side that pier. How many levels of scaffholding does it take to get to the car deck from the drydock? Hmm I'll look at the Coquitlam page on that site.

The Oaky is scheduled to be back in service on route 2 on Sunday June 19th, according to the RBI. From there the Coquitlam will be on the Langdale run starting June 19th. The Surrey will be at Departure Bay and she will be in service starting Thursday June 30th, for the start of the Canada Day weekend as an extra. Also I am assuming the Esquimalt will be going to Langdale to as the supplementry vessel.
So starting then,
Queen of Cowichan, #1 Departure Bay Queen of Surrey #2
Queen of Oak Bay #1 Horseshoe Bay
Queen of Coquitlam #1 Langdale Queen of Esquimalt #2 Langdale
That is how it should be then end of June for the summer!

Yup, that sounds about right. It's gonna be weird seeing the Coquitlam on the Langdale run now instead of the Surrey, and then riding on the Surrey on route 2. She hasn't done a sailing on that route since the summer of 2003 just after she got back from getting repaired from the fire. But she did what the Esquimalt is doing this weekend, go from Departure Bay to Horseshoe then the Langdale and then that route reversed.
